The Faculty of Science (FSR) has several committees, each focusing on specific aspects of the student council's work. This year, there are four committees.
The Regulations Committee
This committee is responsible for ensuring that all faculty rules and regulations are fair, consistent, and well-documented. Their primary task is to thoroughly review the Teaching and Examination Regulations (TERs) for all FNWI programs. They also verify that study guides and course books contain accurate and complete information that students need to properly prepare for their courses.
The Education Committee
This committee focuses on the quality and accessibility of education at the faculty. They monitor how budget cuts impact the quality of education and maintain close contact with program committees to stay informed about issues at the program level. A few topics you might consider include policies on mandatory attendance, scheduling practices, and grading deadlines (which also apply to the regulations committee).
The Facilities Committee
This committee is committed to improving the physical and digital environment in which students study. They focus on making information more accessible, improving study spaces, and advocating for inclusive facilities such as text-to-speech software for students with disabilities. They also maintain regular contact with facilities services and building management. Topics they plan to address this year include increased attention to student mental health, lecture recording, and discussions about lunch breaks and catering.
The Promotion Committee
The fourth committee is committed to strengthening the bond between the student council and the broader student population. They organize certain activities during Purple Friday and coordinate various promotional activities throughout the year to engage students and raise awareness of both the council's work and the various benefits available to them as students.
